Episode 25: You Don't Need Me (and I Know It)
Synopsis
Have you ever wondered how quantum shifts are possible, and how likely you are to create one? Or perhaps what's the best way to do so? This episode breaks down the 3 Trestles that all lasting change require (supported or otherwise, intentional or otherwise), and how non-ordinary states of consciousness (nosc) are basically always responsible. The second trestle of the Power Play framework is called Clear & Reset, and it's where the heart of a shift or change occurs. Mandy also reveals two considerations affecting the depth, breadth and permanence of change which is possible, when crossed with the variable of speed. This episode can support someone who's actively problem-solving, and those taking an interest growing themselves personally or the evolution of their own psyche.

Today I want to share the framework I’ve mentioned before, Power Play.
The thing that has really irked me about creating a framework is the element of ownership, or claim-staking that seemed to be implied in it.
So I want to start with sharing the intention of even creating framework.
It can happen sometimes that we can get bamboozled by someone’s new bright and shiny idea. If a framework or “solution” assumes importance or significance, it runs the risk of contributing to a sense of dependence. Attachment being the source of all suffering, this is movement in the wrong direction.
What I know is this: there are no new problems and no new solutions. And we self heal.
Because I’m in the business and on a mission of harm reduction, I asked:
What value would providing a new lens on ancient and impossible-to-own wisdom create? Is it aligned with my mission, or a distraction to it, by providing distraction to others.
Might a framework contribute to that egoic pitfall of attachment? Maybe.
But if we’re armed with the truth that we self heal, frameworks are really helpful as a step along the path, like handrails protect and support, but don’t prevent us from staying squarely within our own power while we co-create and heal our stories.
So I decided it was useful to create this framework Power Play…
I’ve found myself repeating so often lately, there are many bridges to get to the other side of where you want to go. I offer one such bridge, and I can do this in the way that only I can. Because no one is me other than myself.
Zen, the yoga sutras, buddhism, the Tao, Christianity and Islam in the best cases, and many other faiths and philosophies provide paths. Power Play is a re-picturing of a path as I experience it and as I provide assistance.
My hope is that it provides and remains another way for us to connect. Although I recognize that I can’t control how it is received, I figured this context improves the odds. If you recognize it as an embellishment of universal ideas at best, you are forewarned!
Power Play has 4 Pillars. There are 4 Tools of Power Play, and 4 Values. There are 5 Fields of Power Play, and 3 Trestles, which I mentioned last week.
The 4 Pillars do in some ways build upon each other:
Clarity
Leadership
Power
If my mind, these have parallels in engineering - even if indirect ones:
Space (Existence without Qualification)
Vector (Direction or Desire)
Application of Space - could be seen as both or either volume, and/or velocity & acceleration
Force - ability to create impact and exert will on command beyond one-self (a combination of mass (confidence) & how capable you have applied your space in any direction (leadership))
My engineering mechanics teacher from the Academy would cringe, but it’s a proxy and perhaps conveys some sense of how you can think of and apply the pillars to your personal journey of growth right now today:
Which pillar needs love first?
Truth is, we could spend weeks, months, even lifetimes on each Pillar alone.
But my closing thought is this:
I think differentiation is more often born of scarcity than of self love.
It took me eons to figure out how I’m different, and why that’s a good thing.
Now the work becomes illuminating whatever benefits we find for all those who are aligned with the same mission, or on the same healing path.
We collectively stay in alignment by using power to relieve the suffering of others, to shorten the path, to lighten the load, to light the way. There are so many opportunities for us to do this every day.
Have you identified one yet today in your life?
Until our paths cross next, take good care of yourself.
