Episode 52: For the Men in Our Lives: A Thanksgiving Special

Synopsis

November is men’s health awareness month. This topic is IMPORTANT to me. In today's episode we dive into why men in our lives, our workplaces, our communities are more susceptible to suicide, and what each of us should do about it.

What we don’t speak about, doesn’t change.

What we don’t prioritize, doesn’t change.

But when most "solutions" amount to coping and managing with anxiety and deeply seated unhappiness, would you be inspired to take action?

I’m here to beat this drum again: It’s POSSIBLE to heal these mental health challenges completely.

Anyone saying otherwise just hasn’t helped someone to do it.

When people ask me why I specialize in working with men, among other things, this is the reason. Men are underserved in mental health. I specialize to hold open a door that most people don’t see is there. I specialize because the world is better when our men are present, emotionally powerful and adept, and free from the burdens that aren’t necessary to bear and actually aren't helping anyone.

Show Notes

This morning I woke up and thought how we’re in the second half of November today. November is men’s health month. This topic is IMPORTANT to me.

When I think about men’s health, I think about mental health. Why?

Did you know that on the National Institute of Mental Health’s website, they report information from the CDC in a chart about suicide’s rank among age groups by sex (reference year 2019, NIMH https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/statistics/suicide ):

Look at the graph - Why the disparity?

Many of the men in our lives, in our workplaces, and in our communities are really, really, really good at keeping $h*t together. Pushing through. Making it happen. And it shows up in this statistic.

Because the men who bend AND break create the dark blue bars on this chart.

Men’s Health Month feels like the right time to pull this forward into the light.

What we don’t speak about, doesn’t change.

What we don’t prioritize, doesn’t change.

But as people, isn't it common to want to play games we have a CHANCE at winning?

❌Most people believe that healing these issues – really moving past them for good – isn’t on the table.

❌Most "solutions" amount to coping and managing with anxiety and deeply seated unhappiness. That doesn’t inspire me to take action. What about you?

I’m here to tell you that healers in our world know of a different outcome. 🔥🖤

It’s POSSIBLE to heal these mental health challenges completely. Anyone saying otherwise just hasn’t helped someone to do it.

My clients Jon, Travis, Joe, Nick, Rex, Chris, Sam, John, Jeff, Josh, Alex, Lawrence, Luke, the list goes on and on and on of the people I’ve helped over the years. Lives completely changed in weeks – permanently. Real people with real families, and real missions to accomplish. We bridged the gap in information first, and the gap in self trust second, to ultimately close the gap in fulfillment they were experiencing in their lives.

When people ask me why I specialize in working with men, among other things, this is the reason.

Men are underserved in mental health.

Does it really matter if the man closest to you doesn't pull the trigger?

I specialize to hold open a door that most people don’t see is there. 🔥🖤

I specialize year round to hold a vision of a world that’s stronger when our men are present, emotionally powerful and adept, and free from the burdens that aren’t necessary to bear and actually aren't helping anyone. 🔥🖤

Thanks for being in my life! I hope you share this with someone who needs to hear it today.
