Episode 44: Another Dimension to Power

Synopsis

As much as it’s true that personal power is something that each of us already have – like a locked box all our own and a matching key in our pocket –

A lot of people today don’t see the box, they don’t feel the key, and they can’t remember what’s inside of it. More than that though, they’ve been taught to be afraid of what’s in the box. As long as people are in fear states, they’re divorced from their own power.

Today's episode is about the way I discovered what my own mission is, and a vision of what's possible in the world I'm imagining. This is what I’m working toward – a world where that fear is cleared out so everyone can fully access what’s in that box. I hope you enjoy this one.

Show Notes

I’ve referenced someone named Barry Brownstein on the podcast before – he’s going to be a guest in a few weeks here on the show so you’ll get to meet him personally.

But it was something shared during our very first conversation which was not recorded at the time that enlightened something for me:

He had shared his philosophy, his understanding of our human condition,

His belief (as mine) is in a fundamental Oneness is. That each of us is consciousness - being, observing, perceiving - capable even of observing itself,

Because of this, there is a predicament of experiencing what is One from the position or experience of being a separate self, an individual. We all have a self concept, as Barry calls it.

From this knowing, every ploy at separateness, and even individual purpose can be something to wonder at. I wondered why, knowing this as he does, he still writes his essays?

I asked for myself of course, it was a personal question for me and I really wanted to know his answer.

…knowing you are perceiving yourself as separate though we are all bound through a quantum perspective, it seemed like even something as simple as finding purpose or expressing personal values is like trying to stake a tent in the middle of the sea,

I wanted to know what motivates someone like Barry to persevere in trying to impress some cherished ideals onto the world around him?

He told me he felt it was a very good question. One I could see that maybe he had not been asked before.

This is when he explained part of his why, as being not to change minds, but to remind people they have a choice –

And he said, he wants people to know they have choice, see all their choices, and feel capable to exercise any choice they want.

This deeply resonated.

It made me ask myself another question: What do you do with the power that you have?

- - - - - - -

A mentor of mine and I were having a conversation. Very near one of the first times he was helping me. This is the person who modeled what I talked to you about before : about having skin in the game when helping people – real investment, soul to soul as he called it.

I don’t remember what we were talking about at the time, but I remember when he stopped me,

He said “Mandy you just taught me something... "

I remember his words because they stood out so clearly in the conversation. He said,

"You just showed me that I don’t have to worry any more when people hate me."

What a holy person, right?

He said, "That it’s just another gift I give to them. I give them the gift of seeing something that they react to. I can simply say, “tell me what you see. Tell me what you dislike.” Genuine curiosity.

This reaction of Phil’s is everything I know about him distilled into a moment, an interaction, his true reaction to receiving more freedom – to receiving a piece of information which unlocks more access to power for him within interactions he has with others.

The minute he learns something empowering, he doesn’t use it to store more power, like a land grab – he uses it as a vehicle for giving that power right back into others’ hands. He responds to every gain with generosity.

He roots himself in the truth of his fundamental security before a belief in all of our inherent value, importance, and dignity – through that lens there can be no enemy. Nothing to harden against.

This is what some people do with power. Recycle it versus collect it.

Willingness to do so, ability to do so, choice to do so.

They’re all different moments you can use to elect how you give, how you share, how you guard, how you express values.

---------

Why do you think that I share these two converastions with you?

Can you relate to either of these men? It wouldn’t surprise me if you did. These conversations show how they handle power.

People who handle power like this often have a hard time seeing the gift they give to others. These two men were not excluded in that.

What is just another obvious part of life, a foregone conclusion, becomes lost in the noise to someone like this. But the same good fortune may not be coming back in spades. This can make terrain very difficult to navigate.

What do you think? Have you experienced the same?

Let’s reconnect with this moment through breath.

Can you guess why these two conversations were so meaningful to me?

They taught ME something more valuable than any possession.

I’m gonna say something that may not make a lot of sense, but I used to think I wanted nothing.

All I wanted was to actually feel happy with what I have. I knew that what I had was great. Because of this I used to think I actually wanted nothing at all.

It confused me for most of my life until recently, because what I wanted was something translucent.

I didn’t want nothing, it’s just that what I want is see through.

I want no undue influences – freedom for all from influence that is unwelcomed and unseen.

Pure empowerment.

These conversations taught me – demonstrated a template for desire that I had never understood before. Something I’d never seen modeled, but was deeply resonant because they’re subtle values that are mine too – and maybe they’re also yours.

They showed me that my mission isn’t to “change” anything.

It’s is about reinstating choice.

It’s releasing, subtracting, allowing.

It’s the freedom to change itself – it’s like furthering access instead of creating bumper rails.

Like lifting up the velvet rope and saying, all are welcome. No contingencies.

I want to literally empower. For everyone to come into their own power.

What’s the problem?

Because that’s not where we’re at right now.

As much as it’s true that personal power is something that each of us already have – a locked box all our own and a matching key in our pocket,

A lot of people don’t see the box, they don’t feel the key, and most importantly they can’t remember what’s inside.

And you know what’s more, they’ve been taught to be afraid of what’s in the box.

And as long as people are in fear states, they’re divorced from their own power.

This is what I’m working toward – a world where that fear is cleared out so everyone can fully access what’s in that box.

Does this mission sound compelling to you? Is your calling the same? Your purpose the same? Maybe you don’t feel like you’ve found that vein yet – to know exactly what it is you want to impress on the ether.

The best way for us to do that may be by allowing me to support your fulfillment first and create the change you want to see in the world from the inside out. I want to invite you to book a consultation with me on my website www.palladiummind.com if you would like help forming deeper connections with those who matter most in your life, experiencing satisfaction and enjoyment within the incredible success and life you’ve invested in creating,

And in the mean time, here is one way you can begin to access more of your personal power:

Notice how and where and why you outsource your authority. When do you defer your decision making to an external source. Why do you do that? Even in small instances.

Until our paths cross next, take care!
